EnviroFlight Aims to Lead Transformative Change in Our Global Food Supply
The world population is expected to increase from 7 to 9.3 billion in 2050. The 2012 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and the United Nation’s Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) states that food production must increase by 60% in the next 40 years to meet the projected global demand.
The 2012 data on food and nutrition security worldwide reports that 870 million people are chronically undernourished. Moreover, 2013 data states that in 2008, more than 1.4 billion adults, 20 and older, were overweight.
FAO estimated yearly global quantitative food losses and waste at roughly 30% for cereals, 40-50% for root crops, fruits and vegetables, 20% for oilseeds, meat and dairy, and 30% for fish.
EnviroFlight’s mission is to develop sustainable animal and plant nutrients using regionally available, low-value materials, emphasizing:
- Production of nutrients in a socially responsible way
- Eliminate toxins, hormones, and antibiotics from our food supply
- Reduce the environmental and financial costs to our food supply
“We produce the insect proteins to feed the fish, to feed the people.”
